LAYING PERFECT BABY EDGES
Baby edges or baby hairs is a broken hair line in the parameters of hair and is common in black and brown women’s natural or relaxed hair.
Laying baby edges is a trial and error process. Some edges require a lot of work. Despite the steps being simple one needs to note that no matter the skill level laying baby edges depends on the hair type.
Course or rough natural hair is hard to to fix compared to retouched hair.
WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE
- wrap
- An edge brush ( mostly a tooth brush)
- Rattail comb for parting and detailing
- Edge gel
- Silk scarf or edge wrap
PROCEDURE
- Using the rattail comb to separate the baby hair from the actual hair, it will be easy because the baby hairs are shorter than the normal hair . Comb the edges down in the direction you want them to go and make sure the comb used wont snag the hair.
- Dip the edge brush (tooth brush) into the edge gel and apply it on the edges swirling them to the direction you want. This is where you decide to make loops, curls, spirals, spikes or just a comb down.
- Use the sharp edge of your rattail comb to perfect the design you have chosen. Whether to smoothen the curves or to push a little hair backwards.
- After choosing your style, take the silk scarf or edge wrap and wrap the baby edges. This will push the edges down and will ensure that the edges remain in shape as the gel dries.
Once the gel is dry then you are good to go.
